Booklist Review
Gr. 8-11. This is shoujo (manga for girls) at its best. In the primary story, readers meet Kanade, a girl who can see people's future, and Arou, a boy who can see their past. Kanade, who cannot control what she sees, is compelled to help people avoid the trouble that awaits them. Arou, on the other hand, seems cavalier about his visions and tries to convince Kanade that it is not their place to interfere. As the story progresses, the young people not only draw closer but also learn that their approach to their special powers isn't as set in stone as they thought. Sakura's storytelling captures the sweetness and angst of both high-school and first love, and the panel layout and backgrounds work well with the art to illustrate the narrative. The two appended stories, while not about Kanade and Arou, are also well written and appealing. --Tina Coleman Copyright 2005 Booklist
Library Journal Review
When high schooler Kanede touches people, she sometimes sees their futures. When in Volume 1 she met Arou, a boy who can see the past, the two quickly became a couple. In this volume, new classmate Namiki, who has a stronger, more reliable version of Kanede's power, confesses that he, too, loves Kanede. Optimistic and cheerful, Kanede tries to use her power to help people by preventing bad events from happening--even when it gets her in trouble. Her attitude leads Arou to believe that he can do the same--but Namiki prefers to watch from the sidelines and uses his abilities to make money instead. Along with stories dealing with a doomed puppy and a haunted biology lab, this volume also features a more dramatic, unrelated story with a different cast, about one girl's encounter with a wish-granting devil. CMX rates this largely sweet, appealing series with accomplished shojo-style artwork for "everyone," but there is some minor profanity. It will appeal most to teens, but it will also interest adult fans of such series as Kodocha and Kare Kano. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
