Publisher's Weekly Review
At the start of Larsen's fast-paced sequel to 2004's The Perfect Assassin, former Mossad operative David Slaton, Israel's most lethal assassin, has begun a new life in Virginia with a new identity and a new wife, Dr. Christine Palmer. Slaton has vowed never to kill again, but when Christine is attacked in a botched abduction attempt by Slaton's former employers while attending a medical conference in Stockholm, he quickly realizes "you can never leave." With his wife on the run and the new director of Mossad doing his best to force him back for one more job-the assassination of the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization-Slaton must find a way out of his predicament while also saving Christine. A tightly woven storyline that builds to a series of bombshell concluding twists helps to make up for the cardboard characters. A former Israeli assassin is forced back into the game in this sequel to The Perfect Assassin (2006). Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear missile, which, when completed, will be used on Israel. Every mission sent to take out the scientist responsible for the weapon is met with resistance, suggesting a traitor on the inside. David Slaton, asked by his former boss at Mossad to assist with the mission, at first refuses, but when his wife is attacked, the terms change. The intensity increases as the pages fly. Fans of Vince Flynn and Robert Ludlum will enjoy this take on a reluctant hero thrust backinto a world he never wanted to see again.--Ayers, Jeff Copyright 2014 Booklist
