Gr 4-8-These limited overviews provide background information for intermediate and reluctant readers. However, the first book is somewhat uneven. The introduction contains much geographical information, but there is no accompanying map. Later in the book, there is a small map, but the print is unreadable. The description of the actual attack and its aftermath, however, makes gripping reading. Pentagon includes an account of the building's partial destruction on 9/11. Interested readers will learn how the remodeling at the time may have saved lives. There is a good summary of how Al Qaeda is believed to function. Anthrax has a clear description of the biological weapon, what it is, and how it works. One-quarter of the book describes its historical use as a terrorist tool in the Soviet Union and Japan. All three titles have pertinent charts and a variety of average-quality, color and black-and-white photos.
