Author Notes

Marissa Moss began as an illustrator of children's books. She is the author and illustrator of the Amelia series. She has written and illustrated more than 20 children's books including Amelia's Notebook, which was named a 1997 American Booksellers Association Pick of the Lists book. Her other books include Regina's Big Mistake and Knick Knack Paddywack.

My Notebook (with Help from Amelia) also won the 2000 Parent Council Outstanding Award Informational and Oh Boy, Amelia! won the 2001 Parent's Guide to Children's Media Award and the 2002 Children's Choice Award.

In the fourth time-travel adventure from the Mira's Diary series, Mira searches for her mother in three time periods: from 1864 to 1866, when the girl befriends journalist Sam Clemens; in 1906, when she witnesses devastation caused by the earthquake; and in 1934, when she helps her mother accomplish her mission and return to the twenty-first century. Moss illustrates the book with small, precise ink drawings that are inviting and effective. While the story's dramatic climax seems less convincing than the scenes leading up to it, readers who have enjoyed Mira's journeys in the three previous books will be curious about the story's conclusion.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2016 Booklist
