JAN MORAN is the author of the novel Scent of Triumph , and Fabulous Fragrances I and II , which earned spots on the Rizzoli Bookstore bestseller list. A fragrance and beauty expert, she has been featured in numerous publications and on television and radio, including CNN, Instyle , and O Magazine , and has spoken before prestigious organizations, including The American Society of Perfumers. She earned her MBA from Harvard Business school and attended the University of California at Los Angeles Extension Writers' Program.

Set in the mid-1950s and spanning wine country in Napa Valley and Montalcino, Italy, Moran's new novel tells the tangled and tragic story of the winemaking Rosetta family. Caterina Rosetta has kept her baby daughter a secret from her mother, but her mother, Ava, has secrets of her own. Ava told Catarina her father was a kind and charming man who died in an accident, but he was really a drunk and abuser who fled his family. When Marisa inherits an Italian vineyard from her father's mother, she finds out how her father not only tore apart their family but that of her daughter's father as well. Moran builds romance and suspense to a dramatic if somewhat overwrought conclusion. Caterina is a dream of a protagonist, and her mother, for all her flaws, is relatable as a parent so desperate to see her child happy and prosperous that she will do whatever it takes. Readers will devour this page-turner as the mystery and passions spin out.
