PreS-K-This almost wordless picture book presents one curious puppy's adventures as he follows his nose through breakfast, the garden, a park, and even a garbage can. Any young dog owner will relate to this messy, stinky story, and all will love the cute puppy despite his romp in the trash. Using bold, colorful illustrations, Sias brings this pooch to life right before readers' eyes. Little ones will be inspired to create their own narratives using the pictures. A puppy's nose leads it and its owners on an adventure. First it smells breakfast, then the garden; it even sniffs out garbage at the park, which leads to a much-needed bath. A little brown puppy follows his nose and has an aroma-filled day. One energetic puppy with an oversized nose and overactive olfactory glands makes for a lively book for the youngest readers. From the moment he wakes up, this ebullient pup sniff-sniffs his way through the world. On each right-hand page, he smells something (shown in, for lack of better words, smell bubbles) that leads him rushing off the page towhere? That's for readers to figure out. First, the aromas of bacon, pancakes and oranges in his smell bubble lead his nose down the stairs to "BREAKFAST!" There, he causes quite a mess, scarfing down bacon and ruining the meal for everyone else. Before anyone can clean up, he smells flowers, dirt and tomatoes and is off like a shot to dig up the garden, of course. With minimal text and maximum action, this colorful volume is a dog lover's delight. Naughty toddlers will enjoy giggling along with the action, guessing the next destination at each page turn. Eventually, this little puppy ends up in the tub, with all the smells of the day washed away. Colorful cartoon illustrations, including the endpapers, are filled with exaggerated action that perfectly matches the energy of both puppies and preschoolers.
