Summary:
Reviews the individuals, tactics, and events involved in Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery's plan to end World War II.

In order to secure an important bridge as part of the Allied advance into the Netherlands in 1944, in an operation codenamed Market Garden, British and Polish paratrooper units were landed into the Arnhem area on 17 September. The bulk of the force was dropped rather far from the bridge and never met their objective. A small element of the British 1st Airborne managed to make its way as far as the bridge but was unable to secure both sides. The troops encountered stiff resistance from the Germans, eventually ran out of ammunition, and were captured on 21 September. The British 1st Airborne Division lost nearly 3/4 of its strength and did not see combat again.--from Wikipedia.
