Library Journal Review
Veteran Christian authors Dobson (Dr. Dobson's Handbook of Family Advice) and Bruner (The Purpose of Passion) here collaborate on this first installment in a futuristic trilogy in which families and fertility take a backseat to careers and cultural trends. Set in the midst of America's economic demise, the story features Julia Davidson, an award-winning journalist, Congressman Kevin Tolbert, and college student Matthew Adams, each struggling to find moral solutions to their family problems, which in turn reveal the conflicts of the nation as a whole. Bernard Setaro Clark's moderate narration with smooth, passable enunciation is not particularly dynamic but is nonetheless effective, given the novel's powerful themes. VERDICT Christian readers and those who enjoy political intrigue will be engaged from the first dramatic chapter all the way to the novel's sobering end. ["The idea that traditional families hold more worth than nontraditional families is a bit too heavy-handed.... Still, this fast-paced thriller will find an audience with fans of Ted Dekker's suspense novels," read the review of the FaithWords: Hachette hc, LJ 2/15/13.-Ed.]-Erin Forson, Bradford Sch.
