Crop his hair, add a couple of years, and Alex (below) might be Arthur--which is something of a drag, but probably won't disconcert readers who meet them separately. This is a less inventive but still ingenious sequence, with lots of what-next enticement--as Arthur, book bag on back, investigates a decrepit old house on the edge of a cliff. Inside, he finds and unties a prisoner, but then is locked in the attic with him by a gang of thugs who've been playing cards in the cellar. Arthur, always a step ahead of his adult fellow-prisoner, dead-aims a paper-airplane message to a construction crew at the bottom of the cliff; and the episode ends with arrest for the thugs, rescue for Arthur, and a bulldozer-ride home.
